100th Day of School activities and Classroom Book Bin and Book Labels

I hope you are doing well. I have been cursed with the dreaded FLU! Yes, it finally happened. I have tried to be so careful and I still got it. :( Before you ask, yes I did take the flu shot. It is brutal people. The aches and pains last FOREVER!!!!! YUCK! Praying the hubby doesn't get it.

We have been super busy in K. We completed the 100th day of school. I thought I would share some pics with you of how it all went down.

We also made this 100 gumball creation. Thanks to Cara Carroll at The First Grade Parade.

My kiddos loved counting their 100 items that they brought from home. Some were very creative with what they brought too!!

We also made our 100 year old portraits. They turned out great! They did a great job and really used their imagination and creativity.

We also made crowns that we decorated and blinged up a bit. We wore them to lunch. Super cute!

We also created a chart of " I wish I had 100."

I have finally finished my classroom book bin and book labels. 

I have been working on these forever. I started before my recent foot surgery and with all the set backs (AKA flu), it has taken me forever to finish them. I am so excited to load these. Check them out in my TPT store-HERE. This label set contains everything you need to label the books in your classroom library: large bin labels, small bin labels, and coordinating book labels.  I have left white ones, in case you would like to save your color ink. LOL! There are also colored ones for those people like me, who buy ink like literally every week anyway. UGH!!!! I plan to use these next year in my classroom library. I am going to begin trying to organize my library that is still stuffed in my garage due to the last minute move this school year for my husband and I. Read more about that-HERE.  I am trying to become more organized but I tell you it has been an uphill battle this year. Can I get an AMEN? I feel so disorganized. I am loving K more than I ever thought I would and really to be honest can't believe the school year is half gone. I don't even want to think about May. I dread it---like really, really dread it. These babies have come so far!!!!! 

Hope you are all gearing up for Groundhog's Day, Valentine's Day, and President's Day!!! Wow! I am not ready!!!! :(

The Mitten

Hello and happy WINTER!!!! Have I mentioned that I hate ( I mean like hate with the passion) winter. I am definitely a summer kind of gal. I am looking forward to sunny days ahead.

My students came back from Christmas break a whole 2 inches taller and so much more mature. It is amazing how much they grow in two weeks. I am so proud of the progress they have made this year. I guess that is my favorite part about kindergarten. You can see so much progress from the first day of school. :)

We have been busily working on winter activities. One of my favorite winter books is The Mitten by Jan Brett. I created a sequencing activity and pocket chart center to go along with the book. The students loved and that made my heart happy! I love it when I create things and they love it as much as I do.

We created this super cute snowman that my mom shared with me. That is the beauty of us teaching the same grade, we share ideas. I think she found this on Pinterest.

The Mitten Literacy Fun

Here is The Mitten Literacy fun I created for my kiddos. Hop on over to my TPT store and get it. 

Here is the pocket center in action in my classroom. It worked out well. I created mittens that I colored and had the students to match the mittens to the correct color word. 

This week we will finish up on some snowman fun and celebrate the 100th day of school on Tuesday. More on that later.......Stay tuned........

Reflecting 14 in 14

I am linking up with these fabulous bloggers for 14 in '14! Here is a recap of my year:

This has truly rang true for me in 2014. I trusted God to lead me to where the hubs and I needed to be and he did. He amazes me and overwhelms me with his mercy.

This has to be my cowboy boots! I can't wear them right now since my recent foot surgery and I am soooooo SAD!!!!

This is my all time favorite Christmas movie/movie in general. The hubs and I can almost quote the entire movie. We love it. 

 "Are you serious, Clark?"-Cousin Eddie------:)

I must admit that I have been completely engrossed in this show. I guess my love of country music is the main cause. :)))

I have two restaurants that I rave over. Of course we are avid Alabama football (or Alabama anything) lovers and we travel to Tuscaloosa quite often. These two restaurants are two of my favorites. Baumhowers Wings is owned by Bob Baumhower who is a former Crimson Tide standout. It is adorned with Crimson Tide memorabilia everywhere and is where you can usually see some players eating. 

The City Cafe is a dainty little (and I do mean little)restaurant that the hubs introduced me to. It was one of my Granddaddy Billy's favorite places to eat. We would go with him almost everytime we met him in T-town. They serve home cooked meals such as catfish, fried chicken, and all the fixings. You can tell we like to eat. LOL!

I would have never told you a year ago that I would be teaching in my hometown and I sure would not have told you I would be teaching Kindergarten. I sure do feel blessed that I could have this opportunity and I am in love with this age level.

I LOVE Kindergarten!!!!!

TIME!!! Definitely the chance to be back home in my hometown, teaching at the school in which I graduated from, and my husband teaching right across the road from me. The TIME in which God arranged everything in our favor. He deserves all the credit for this!!!

I have like a million pins. I can't pick just one. I have pinned tons of stuff to help me with the transition to kindergarten and also just for life.  Go check out my Pinterest boards.

I love him with all my heart!! He makes me smile, laugh, and see the positive side of things every single day. I look forward to many more years with my sweet hubby!

My favorite memory would have to be getting these two sweet little pups. They have brought so much joy to our lives and are truly man's best friend. Yorkie Lovers!

I want to be better at working out and lifting weights. I have tried this in the past and never stuck with it. I want to make a life change rather than just be on a diet.

TRUST

I posted this in March or April on my Instagram and I had prayed that same prayer for years. I am living proof that he hears your prayers.  He just does things in HIS time, NOT ours.

2014 was fabulous!!! I look forward to an even better 2015!! ROLL TIDE!!
